Shockwave

If you arrived here by redirection you need to get the plugin and players for Flash and Shockwave.
You can get both the plugin and players for Flash and Shockwave from Macromedia's Site

The Active-X Plugin can be downloaded here - this will allow your Internet Explorer browser to run Flash
The Flash Player can be downloaded here - this will allow you to test out Flash without putting onto a web page and using the browser.

Shockwave movie files are .dcr files produced in Director.

You need shockwave player installed to play it on your browser.
Macromedia Shockwave Player is a set of Plugins and Xtras designed to play interactive multimedia on the web. Shockwave player plays Director and Flash media.

Flash Movie files are .swf files produced in Macromedia Flash. You need the Flash Player installed to play them.

You will also meet these files embedded in .exe files. As long as you have Flash and Shockwave embedded in your browser these will play outside Flash or Director.

Using Pages containing Shockwave and Flash

To view shockwave or flash on a web page the viewer's browser has to have the ActiveX or
Plugins enabled.

Enabling Flash and Shockwave in Browsers

The players are ActiveX controls in IE and Plugins in Net Navigator and need to be enabled.

Internet Explorer

Windows. Open the Internet Options dialog box in the Tools menu. Select the Security tab and make sure that the "Enable ActiveX controls and plug-ins" options in the Advanced section is selected.

Macintosh. Open the Options dialog box in the Edit menu. Select the Web Content tab and make sure that "Load Plugin Objects" is selected.
