This is a complex page made using a page template in FrontPage, but you could make it yourself!
5 columns and 1 row are used. Look at the code! Two of the cells are simply use for spacing.
Background Image
A common device on web pages to achieve effects such a
tiling, bricks etc.
This cell has a background image used. This is a normal gif image.
The image could fill the whole page but has been inserted into the centre
column only.
Dimensions of image are 450*350 pixels. Because the
image is too small for the depth of the cell it 'tiles'.
Other Uses of Graphics
Graphic files are commonly used for banner adverts These tend to be a standard size of about 460*60 pixels. An example is shown below. They can be linked to the file, so that if you click on it you go to the web site
Sailboat thumbnail
This image is
small to fit into the space. When you click on it it opens up into a
bigger picture.
Image used to trigger a hyperlink to a web site. Click on the image
and it moves to the web site
