| Using
Tables
Tables give a page greater flexibility of layout, both in where you put items and in
the backgrounds used on the page.
This table has 4 cells. This is set out as two horizontal units
(rows) and two vertical units (columns)
The top cell is used for banner, the bottom left cell for navigation and
this main cell for content on the page.
(See help page for
how to set up tables and layout cells.)
Borders, Spacing and
Padding
The borders are set for the table.
This is set
at a border of 2 and spacing between the cells of 1.
The
border has been given a colour.
The cell therefore has a border and is separated from the other cells
by spacing.
A small amount of padding has been set in the table so
the writing starts a small distance from the cell edges.
Cell Alignment
This affects the layout of
things put inside the cell
The cell has been aligned to LEFT for horizontal and TOP for
vertical. This makes the writing start at the top of the page. The
banner cell is CENTRE for horizontal and MIDDLE for vertical alignment.
Table and Cell
Colours
Both table and cells can have background colours set up for them.
This cell has no background colour, but takes its colour from the
background colour for the table.
The top cell and the left cell have
background colours set up for each cell, overiding the table background.
(See help page for
how to format cell alignment and cell colours.)
